What is an RSS Feed
RSS is a way to send information in an unified format through the internet. The whole idea is that you subscribe with your favorite RSS reader (see below) to an RSS. Sites publishing those RSS
feeds (like our site) make this unified format available via a special url, which you can preview in almost any modern browser. For each update an item is add to the feed.
Currently on this site we offer you RSS subscribtions on a 'on category' base, so you can either subscribe to updates in a certain category or subscribe to a general update feed. When new posts are imported in our
engine, you immediately (if you're online) receive this update in your RSS Reader. So you always have direct access to the newest posts in your favorite category.
Where can I find those RSS readers
Without maybe even knowing it, you already have a good RSS reader, because every modern browser includes basic functionality to read RSS streams. However there also are quite a lot
good standalone RSS readers, maybe the best of them (for Windows) is RSS Bandit, a free program offering everything you might want to have to read RSS.
If you have to much money, you also can google for commercial RSS Readers, but they do not offer more then RSS Bandit does. |
